The Matchup: It all comes down to this: two stories of a ragtag group of bandits led by George Clooney robbing a trio of properties owned by wealthy assholes. The symmetry is incredible! And I have a deep love for both of these films. When it comes down to it, though, Ocean’s Eleven is the heist movie. It’s also a heist movie the whole way through, while Fantastic Mr. Fox becomes something of a battle/rebellion movie near the end. Sure, there’s some logistical errors when you really dig into the mechanics of the Ocean’s heist, but who cares? It’s too fun to notice in the moment, and that’s exactly the feeling a great heist movie should give you.
